Hypermiling - Not So Scary After All?

While some rant and rave about the dangers and risks of hypermiling (referring to unsafe tactics that are used by some insane drivers), sensible and ethical hypermilers continue going calmly about their work to get better gas mileage.
A recent blog post at The Commute gives one example of how applying only a couple of safe and simple hypermiling techniques has resulted in gas mileage improvements.
A post called Hypermiling Risks Overstated points out that some of the unsafe “hypermiling techniques” which have been complained about have not even really been used.
One columnist jestfully suggests a double fine for anyone honking at a hypermiler.
And if you are looking for some government-endorsed gas-saving tips, you can always go to www.fueleconomy.gov and find out what they have to say about legitimate ways to improve gas mileage.
