About Me

In 1994, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, I’ve had no surgery, chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Needless to say, I am alive today.

At the time, I had a smattering of knowledge about nutrition, none of it recent, and none at all about herbs or other natural remedies. Today, I know more, though I am no expert! I’d like to help others to gain knowledge-to-think-with regarding their health and that of the people they love.

I’m a grandmother, wife of 41 years, and I am my husband’s business partner, designing and building custom homes in a coastal, rural area. We were young in the 60’s, and in that tradition, our first thought when confronting a problem has always been how to handle it ourselves, not who to call to handle it for us. As a result, we’ve invented many solutions in life, both personal and business.

I believe that any self-determined course of action will have far greater power than one followed obediently, automatically, or indifferently. In that spirit, this blog will bring you data, resources, stories, opinions and even advice – but with the intention that you use only the information that makes sense to you, helps you understand what is happening, and leads to real solutions.

I hope you’ll join me by posting your own stories, successes, and even failures at solving health problems – small and large – with non-toxic and non-invasive means.
