Herbal Beauty Remedies

Staying beautiful doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor. You can use ingredients that are readily available in your home. These herbal beauty remedies are easy to create, and as they are mostly natural or edible, they don’t contain any toxic materials that can harm your skin.

Rose water

Rose water is known for its antibacterial, healing, soothing, and antiseptic properties. It has a high content of vitamins and flavonoids. Due to its soothing effects, rose water is often used against aging and drying of the skin. It can also be used to purify, cleanse, and tone the skin. Another great property is that rosewater can reduce redness and get rid of black spots.

To make rose water, gather fresh rose petals. Ensure these roses have not been sprayed by any pesticides or chemicals! Ideally, they should be grown using organic practices. The ratio of rose petals to water depends on your own desired fragrance and color. You can start with one liter of water to about two cups of rose petals. Place the petals in an enamel saucepan and add water. When the water is almost boiling, remove it from the heat and then let it cool before you strain it. The water will remain scented for around two days.

You can also purchase a spray made with rose water and Double Helix Water here.

Remedies for Freckles and Age Spots

Cucumbers are said to be good bleaching agents for the skin. This is one reason why they can be used on brown spots. To create a lotion to treat freckles and age spots, simply mix one tablespoon of cucumber juice with two tablespoons of water. Apply the lotion once in the morning and once at night. Leave it on the skin to dry.

Banana, Sour Cream, and Honey Facial Mask

Mix together one half of a banana and add one tablespoon of organic honey, along with two tablespoons sour cream. Apply this to your face and leave it on for ten minutes. Then wipe off the facial mask using a damp wash cloth.

Simple Cornmeal Facial Mask

Mix two tablespoons of organic cornmeal with water to make a thick paste. Apply the mixture to your face and wash it off after a few minutes.

Facial Mask with Almonds and Berries

You will need a blender or a food processor for this simple facial mask recipe. Combine one tablespoon of yogurt, one half of a cucumber, some strawberries, and a teaspoon of honey. Once the mixture is smooth, apply it to the face and leave it to dry. Afterwards, wipe it off gently with a damp wash cloth.

Avocado Facial Mask

For this facial mask, you will need an avocado. Simply mash it up and put it on your face. Let the mask stand for 20 minutes. Then gently wipe the mixture off the face using a damp wash cloth.

Apricot Cream Facial Mask

To make an apricot cream, soak one cup of dried apricots in water until the apricots are soft. Then, place the apricots in a food processor or blender. Add two tablespoons of skim milk powder and blend. Apply the mixture to the face and leave it on for at least 15 minutes before wiping it off with a damp wash cloth.

Cucumber Yogurt Facial Mask

Place one half of a peeled, sliced cucumber in a food processor or blender. Then add a tablespoon of yogurt and blend.  Apply the paste to the face and let it set for at least 20 minutes. When the time is up, wipe the mask off with a damp wash cloth.

Cucumber Facial Recipe

Use this facial mask to cleanse and soothe the skin. Some people say that cucumber with lemon juice can be used to prevent freckles. A cucumber facial mask is an effective astringent that can help cleanse the skin. Cucumber is also said to contain a hormone that can help prevent wrinkles.

You will need a fresh cucumber, one teaspoon of witch hazel, one teaspoon of lemon hazel, one egg white, one tablespoon of cream or plain yogurt, and two teaspoons of powdered milk. Remove the seeds from the cucumber and puree it in a blender or food processor. Afterwards, mix in the other ingredients. This should be placed on the face before applying any facial mask.

Herbal Remedies for Warts

You can use flaxseed oil poultice to get rid of warts. Mix ground flaxseeds with flaxseed oil and a small amount of honey, and apply the mixture onto the wart. If the wart is located on the foot, wear cotton socks. The poultice should be changed every day. In about two to three days, the wart will dry up.

Homemade Bath Bombs and Bath Salts

For a bath bomb, you’ll need one and a half cups of baking soda, one half cup of citric acid, and a quarter teaspoon of the essential oil of your choice. Mix all of the ingredients and then spray the solution with witch hazel before placing the mixture into a mold.

For bath salts, take one cup of Epsom salt, and ten drops of an essential oil which is appropriate for bathing. Add this mixture to your bath.

Antiseptic Skin Spray

To make your own antiseptic skin spray you’ll need four ounces of witch hazel, two teaspoons of 190-proof ethyl alcohol, and 60 drops of tea tree oil. The first step is to dissolve the tea tree oil into the ethyl alcohol and then add in the witch hazel. Pour the solution into a spray bottle, and make sure to shake well before every use. Spray the solution on minor scratches and cuts.

What a wonderful site! Very useful. I too believe the nasty ingredients in most skincare products are behind the increasing prevalence of cancer. Natural is the way to go!
