Articles and information on herbs, herbal teas, and herbal remedies.
There are over 20,000 wild edible plants growing in the United States and Canada. They vary by geographical area, habitat, harvest season, ease of harvest, type of food provided, preparation procedures, whether eaten raw, cooked, or as an ingredient in recipes.
Unhealthy foods and drinks can, admittedly, become addictive. However I have found that there are many non-toxic (and healthy) cold and hot beverages which can become similarly addictive.
After we’d all retired, my grandson started coughing and coughing. It went on and on. He’d caught a cold. I poked around in the kitchen and found some old, crystallized honey and a squeeze bottle of lemon juice. I managed to liquefy enough honey to get these mixed up together. I did not measure anything, but just kept adding lemon until it tasted good – sweet, but tangy. I gave this to my grandson with a spoon and he swallowed it, followed by some water. I went downstairs to mixed up some more, but when I got back, he was deeply asleep and I didn’t hear any more coughing during the night. I used what I had. Sometimes all you have are less-than-perfect ingredients. or not all the ingredients of a home remedy recipe.
Sometimes we hear people say that they tried some herbs to handle a physical problem, and “it didn’t work.” Why is that? Did they take the wrong thing? (Of course, that is always possible.) Is it tainted or contaminated? (That certainly happens in our toxic world.) Does it really not work for anyone?
Do you have a blender? A grocery store nearby? If you do, you can make a tonic for the immune system very, very easily. This is an old recipe, and I’ve seen it called many things. I’ve always called it “Immune Tonic.” That seems to describe it perfectly.
Why write a review of Hoodia Gordonii now? It’s not new news, it’s been around a few years. But while that statement is true, so is this one. I am sitting at my laptop writing this review between bites of my big Toblerone bar because I am past my weight issues. And that is, in some measure, thanks to Hoodia.
One of my favorite drinks in the universe is Ginger Tea, particularly when mixed with Peppermint Tea. But there is a catch. It’s not just any Ginger Tea. I’ve tried Ginger Tea from normal health food or grocery stores, and it’s been horrific in comparison to what I am used to.
